21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Jan 21 - Feb 10

We begin every year seeking spiritual breakthrough in our life, in our church, and in our communities. We do this through 21 days of prayer & fasting as we intentionally seek God’s will so that we can recognize the power of God doing something new in our lives.

Prayer is foundational for what we do and who we are both as a church and as individuals. We believe that prayer and fasting is one of the major keys to fully walking in God's purpose.

FASTING

In addition to this time of prayer, we would love for you to join us in fasting over the next 21 days to align your heart with the heart of God.

Please remember that every person is different and you should only choose what is a healthy and safe choice for you.

Below we have provided a few suggestions of fasts:

Normal Fast, or Liquids Only Fast

This fast would include the drinking of water and juices or herbal teas. Avoid coffee and other caffeine beverages especially if the duration of the fast is several days. This type of fast can be done for 1-day, 3-days, 7-days, and up to 40-days. Please consult a physician and us before a 40-day fast.

Water Only Fast

This becomes difficult if fasting for extended periods. If you are doing manual labor, or keeping any kind of busy work schedule that requires focus and energy, this can be a challenge. God will give you grace for what He leads you to do, but use wisdom in going for more than a few days on this one.

No food or water Fast

This fast is Biblical, but only used in times of spiritual emergencies. The leadership of ENCORE DOES NOT RECOMMEND THIS TYPE OF FAST for obvious health reasons. If God leads you into this type of fast please use wisdom and consult us or Crew Leader.

Partial Fast, or Daniel Fast

This fast is a limited diet, perhaps of vegetables and water or fruits and vegetables (see Daniel 10:3). This is an effective way to enter into the spirit and discipline of a season of fasting for those who have schedules and responsibilities that would not allow a complete fast (i.e. manual labor workers, high-stress schedule jobs, house-wife or mother).

Fasting do not have to last all day long, but for a duration of time in the day. For example: 6am-12pm, 6am-3pm or 6am-6pm. You choose what’s best for you. Let the Holy Spirit help you determine what kind of fast you’re doing, not other people. Make sure to read our Prayer & Fasting Guide before you start.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
