I used to be a man who treated people badly, full of anger, always drinking, smoking, selling drugs, living a life I couldn't afford and only cared about myself. My wife grew up in poverty, was sexually abused multiple times at a young age, became a homeless teen and lived her life thinking she had no value. We both didn't grow up in a Christian home and questioned if God really loved us.

I had a near death experience during a drug transaction where God saved me. My wife felt the overwhelming love of God through authentic relationships in the church. I gave my life to the Lord 18 years ago and ever since then, I have ministered in prisons, the streets, in churches and served in youth ministry alongside my wife. We have 3 beautiful children and love them dearly - Sean, Chase and Harper.

2 years ago, God gave our family a vision to start a life-giving church in Alameda, CA. We didn't know what it would look like or how it would happen, but we had to be obedient. In the beginning of 2021, we gathered in our home with a handful of people to share the vision God gave us for His church. We had vision parties, meetings in our home, served Alameda, prayed, fasted and depended God. On September 19, 2021, we launched Encore Church in the Alameda Theatre and Cineplex.

Our church is not built on a personality type, charisma, on gifts alone or the four walls, it's built on God's Word. We're passionate about helping people encounter the life-changing love of Jesus, building authentic community, and fighting for the unseen. We believe in the next generation and value the wisdom and guidance of those that have gone before us.
